Freestyle Competitions
Freestyle was established in 1981 by a group of innovative and forward thinking professional dance teachers who advanced the teaching of Disco Dancing which later evolved into Freestyle. Freestyle is a popular form of dance in the UK today with over 11,000 dancers who train in this genre.
At Class One, we attend regular Freestyle competitions across the UK. Our calendar consists of fortnightly championship and trophy day competitions along with a handful of weekend festivals throughout the year.
Competitions and Festivals include the likes of the British, European and World Championships along with Miss & Mr Freestyle, Dancer of the Year. These competitions are held at some of the countries fabulous venues such as the Winter Gardens, Butlins and Alton Towers.
In 2007 Gill was awarded the prestigious Le Classique de Danse Award for best professional coach and team trainer. In 2019 Gill also won a prestigious Carl Alan Award for Competitive Coaching. The Carl Alan awards best known as the “Dance Oscars” boasts previous winners such as, The Beatles, Abba, Len Goodman, Diversity, the list goes on. Gill was honoured to receive both of these awards and considers this as some of her proudest moments through her career.
Competitions are a great confidence booster for children, where they can learn amazing dance technique and receive top titles at the UK's biggest Freestyle competitions. Children are trained to be the best of the best whilst having so much fun and meeting lots of new friends.
