ADFP Freestyle Competitors Class
Freestyle was established in 1981 by a group of innovative and forward-thinking professional dance teachers who advanced the teaching of Disco Dancing which later evolved into Freestyle. Freestyle is a popular form of dance in the UK today with over 11,000 dancers who train in this genre. The style has two elements, fast, which involves runs, spins, kicks, and leaps, as well as many other diverse steps and movements with lots of body, arm, and hand actions. The other element is slow; driven from ballet and lyrical, slow allows a dancer to perform and show off dance technique, flexibility and feel of the music.
Class One is renowned in Staffordshire for training many dancers who have won amongst others World, European and British Championship Titles.
The style of dance is exciting and with the evolution and introduction of brand-new dance moves on a regular basis, there is always something different to choreograph in each routine.
Students will participate in a full warm up and a concentrated stretch routine followed by technique work, all of which regularly challenges and enhances their range of movement and dance ability. Students will then work on their individual routines suited to their grade with teacher guidance. Classes create a competition feel where our students can work on skill set, confidence, and performance.
Routines are choreographed individually with one of our experienced teachers in the form of a weekly one to one private lesson. Students registered at Class One as a ADFP Freestyle dancers must also attend regular competitions.
Competitors Conditioning & Competition Training
In this class competitiors will incorporate conditioning alongside limbering and the correct technique for KLT (Kicks, Leaps and Turns) with the ultimate goal of increasing range of movement for all dancers.
This uniquely blended class begins with a body conditioning work out (arms, shoulders, back, abs, glutes, legs) designed to strengthen and tone for improved kicks, leaps and turns. The class is optimum for (injury free) development in movement whislt focusing on strengthening, toning, and stretching different parts of the body using a variety of exercises and techniques.
This class is perfect for a competitive dancer wanting to train to their best level whilst having lost of fun with friends along the way.
Acrobatic Dance
Acrobatic Arts is a professional curriculum for Acrobatic Dance. It is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. Acro Dance is not the same as gymnastics. An Acro Dancer must complete all of the skills on the hard stage/floor without the advantage of a Sprung matt or floor while seamlessly integrating musicality, emotional expression, extension, control and line. The sprung floor allows the gymnast to complete much more difficult tumbling when compared to what is recommended in Acro Dance. Skills taught in Acro Dance might look the same as gymastics, but they are taught differently to compensate for the conditions.
Students will learn to how to increase their strength, flexibilty, endurance, balance and limbering through the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus.
Students must be a ADFP registered member participate in these classes. Students also must be enrolled into our Competitor programme and/or Conditioning KLT Class
