IDTA Exams

Class One Dance Academy follows the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) syllabuses.

The IDTA is one of the world's largest examination boards, covering the full spectrum of dance examinations on a global scale with over 7,000 members in 55 countries, a member of the British Dance Council, Council For Dance Education & Training for Sport and Recreation Alliance, Theatre Dance Council International. 

The IDTA has developed a range of examinations suitable for all ages and levels of experience and achievement. The Association offers a wide variety of tests and awards for amateur / social dancers including Rosettes, Star Dance Awards, Pre-juvenile Groups Awards, Preparatory and Primary Grades; plus a wide range of medal tests in many genres, from one dance through Bronze, Silver and Gold medals and advancing through the Bars, Stars and President’s Awards.

Attainment bands for all the above examinations are as follows; Unsuccessful, Pass, Merit and Distinction. 

Students at Class One are trained using both internationally recognized syllabi and non-syllabus classes. The IDTA graded system enables us to improve each student’s technique and develop their confidence, enabling our teachers to progress students to the next grade.

It is not compulsory for students at Class One to take IDTA examinations, however most students chose to if we feel they are ready. We understand each student is individual and has different aims and aspirations, we use examinations as a great way to encourage our students to strive for progress, and we pride ourselves on the 100% pass rate within the school.
